Best Online Community Resources

Looking for ways to connect with others while social distancing? I have created a list of the best online community resources ranging from workouts, to mindfulness, to cuisine, and even education so that you can get involved and connect with others all over the world.

I hope you are all staying safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. Coronavirus has completely changed our lives, and now we are all connecting with one another through screens. Although this is a sad time right now, there are many silver linings that have emerged. Carbon emissions have dramatically reduced, we are spending more time with our families, and businesses have created unique ways to keep their communities connected.

One thing that I am very excited about is that all these different workout studios that aren’t in Boston are now offering classes on Zoom, so I feel like I get the chance to “travel around the world” on Zoom taking various classes that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to take. If you are like me, I find it hard to complete a workout without others holding me accountable, so I really love all these virtual classes on Zoom where I can see everyone’s faces like we are actually in the studio taking class!

Today I thought I would share a list of some of the best online resources that range from workouts, to mindfulness, to cuisine and even education that I have found useful during these unprecedented times. I’ve been looking for events online that really focus on community, as I think that it’s so important right now to stay connected with others. I hope you find this list helpful, and let me know if you want to take a class together!

Workouts:

Physique 57: I have been absolutely loving the LIVE Instagram physique 57 workouts! I love how they created a private instagram account and everyone comments in the live workout while we are all taking class together. It really feels like such a nice little barre community, and it’s such a great workout at the same time! Don’t be fooled by the tiny movements, they are killer!

Balance Studio: Join me on Saturday mornings at 9AM for a 40 minute barre class! You can even DM me on Instagram to let me know what songs you would like in the playlist for class, and what moves you would like to do, and I will try my best to include them! I love connecting with everyone on Zoom, and it’s so fun, even though we are all separated in our own homes. Balance also offers many other classes ranging from Yin Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, and so much more, and they are all on Zoom!

Sign up for a Virtual Race: The running community is one of the absolute best communities out there! I have signed up for a few races this year, and unfortunately most of them have turned into virtual races, but that’s okay, because they are just as fun! Join me for Boston’s Run to Remember and pick between a 5 mile race or a half marathon, and let’s run together virtually!

Mindfulness:

Sweet Farm: Sweet Farm is located in Half Moon Bay, California, and they are offering LIVE tours of their farm where you get a chance to meet all of their animals face-to-face! Animals are so healing to be around, so take a break from your day to immerse yourself in this wonderful farm!

Hart Mind Body Solutions: Looking for a meditation class where you can have other yogis hold you accountable for completing your meditation practice? Sometimes I find it hard to stay in a meditation on an app by myself, so I’ve been loving Trish Hart’s meditation classes on Zoom. They are so relaxing, and such a nice way to unwind after a long day of classes and work.

The Paint Bar: Join the paint bar and get creative with an online painting class on Zoom! They have so many differing paintings to choose from, and each class is taught by one of their instructors for around 1.5-2 hours.

Cuisine:

Virtual Wine Tasting: Fancy a virtual wine tasting? Join ST. SUPÉRY ESTATE VINEYARDS & WINERY for a virtual tasting every Thursday night!

Milk Street Cooking School: Looking to improve your baking and cooking skills? Milk Street is offering free online courses ranging from sweet treats to savory favorites! I can’t wait to enroll in one of their courses this weekend!

Education:

The Science of Well-Being by Yale University: Looking to take Yale University’s most popular course on the science behind happiness? I am currently taking this course, and I am absolutely loving it! It’s so interesting, such a valuable resource, plus it’s free on Coursera. If you like, you can pay for the course so that you can take quizzes and tests to receive a certificate.

Pound Instructor Training: Looking to become a fitness instructor, specifically a POUND instructor? POUND is offering online instructor trainings and they are so much fun! I got certified this past weekend, and the class was held on Zoom and it was so well organized! Even though we completed the training in our own living rooms and through a screen, I really feel like we all got to know each other and that everyone was rooting for one another.

Virtual Tour of a Museum: There are so many museums who are now offering virtual tours of their exhibits! I recently took a virtual tour of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum for one of my English classes, and I loved it! The British Museum and the Musée D’Orsay are two of my favorites at the moment!

I hope these tips of the best online community resources help you during these unprecedented times, and I hope you are staying safe and healthy! Sending you all lots of love, and let me know if you want to take a class together!
